Get The Trolls Out project updates

November 2022

During the month of November 2022 the following articles:

1) Belgique-Maroc ? Ce match nous a une fois de plus donné raison ! (Belgium-Morocco? This match once again proved us right!)

2) Championne du monde et voilée : "On peut féliciter un parcours sportif tout en regrettant son choix" (World champion and veiled: "We can congratulate a sporting career while regretting her choice")

3) Belgique, terre de surréalisme : radicalisé et incohérent, l'assaillant de Bruxelles s'était présenté à la police (Belgium, land of surrealism: radicalized and incoherent, the assailant from Brussels had presented himself to the police)

4) Les enfants palestiniens en détention militaire : l’expo au parlement belge que des organisations juives contestent (Palestinian children in military detention: the exhibition at the Belgian parliament that Jewish organizations contest)

were the 4 main incidents which the European Network on Religion and Belief reported in the framework of Get The Trolls Out! project. Main issue in Belgian French-speaking media outlets continues to be anti-Muslim hate speech especially now during the World Football Championship. Therefore, ENORB filled complaints through emails and phone calls as we stand against Hate Speech and against discrimination.

We promoted our activities in the framework of Get The Trolls Out while participating in the event organised on the occasion of the launch of the European Elections 2024 strategy together with 100 participants from pan-European (60), youth (10) and local (30) organisations representing 10 million citizens. This event was held at the European Parliament on November 15-16. GTTO Project Coordinator, Klaudjo Marena participated in workshops related to fact-checking hate speech where he talked about Get The Trolls Out project which is relevant to this issue.
