Abdullah Faliq is the Managing Director and Head of Research at The Cordoba Foundation. An Hon. Research Fellow at the London Metropolitan University, he has an MA in Middle East Politics (Durham University), a PhD (University of London) in Arab political Islam. He studied Arabic Language and Islamic Studies in Egypt and Jordan. He has worked in university, government and policy, publishing and media settings for many years. He has built a considerable publishing portfolio, including editing Arches, The MENA Report, Insights, Spotlight, and several other reports and toolkits. To date, he has edited over 100 journal and report publications.
Faliq founded Britain’s first Muslim radio station, Muslim Community Radio and also provides tailored media training, consultancy as well as research to young professionals, BAME and Muslim organisations, and as well as state institutions and media outlets in a number of countries. He has been the President of the Young Muslim Organisation UK (1994-6); involved with the Muslim Council of Britain since its inception (currently a member of the MCB International Affairs), and a trustee at The East London Mosque (helped set up UK’s first Muslim Archives and StrongRoom).
A founder-member of the European Network on Religion & Belief and Bosnia Heritage Foundation respectively, Faliq is a trustee at the Education Aid for Palestinians; an Advisor to Forward Thinking; Founding Director for Global Forum for Good Governance; trustee at All Faiths and None. He was Research and Strategy Director at Global South (Istanbul); Assistant Editor for Islamism Digest produced by the Centre for the Study of Terrorism; Research Consultant for TRT World Forum (2017); CEO of Justice for Rohingya Minority; chair of Enough Coalition Against Islamophobia; and Founder and Executive Director at Centre for British-Turkish Understanding. He has hosted several state leaders, including Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia; President Tayyib Erdogan; the current and former Grand Muftis of Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as the President of Bosnia; and Salih Hudayar, Prime Minister of East Turkestan Government in Exile. A long-term campaigner, he has been active in advocacy and human rights for Palestinians, Rohingya, and Uyghur Muslims of East Turkistan; also supporting victims of the genocides and persecution in Bosnia, South Darfur, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, and others.
